Description

Prepare for a captivating exploration! Our journey kicks off as we ascend towards the charming heart of Castelmola. Along the way, we'll pause at the quaint Belvedere Square, offering you an unforgettable vista of the breathtaking Isola Bella below. Once you've savored those panoramic views, our adventure continues as we descend into the vibrant streets of Taormina.

Get ready for an adventure! Our journey begins with a visit to the charming hilltop village of Castelmola, a true gem perched between the heavens and the sparkling sea. First, we'll pause at the Piazzetta Belvedere for breathtaking views of the iconic Isola Bella. Then, we'll wander through the enchanting streets of this medieval village, officially recognized as one of Italy's most beautiful. Prepare to be captivated by the panoramic vista, with majestic Mount Etna on one side and the stunning Ionian coast stretching out before you on the other. In Castelmola, we'll explore the ancient castle ruins, the captivating Piazza Sant'Antonio with its unique lava stone mosaic floor, and the Piazza del Duomo, home to the historic Mother Church. We'll also discover the tiny Church of San Giorgio, Castelmola's patron saint. As we meander through the narrow alleyways, keep an eye out for the quaint shops selling delicate lace and embroidery, lovingly handcrafted by local artisans. For a truly unique experience, we can stop at the "Bar Turrisi," a quirky local establishment with a, shall we say, *distinctive* theme. Here, you can savor a delicious coffee and sample almond wine, a traditional sweet wine of Castelmola. Next, we'll journey to the heart of historic Taormina! Our exploration begins at Porta Catania, the gateway to Corso Umberto, Taormina's main street. We'll stroll past the Cathedral, admiring its beauty, and stop to marvel at the baroque-style Four Fountains. We'll also pass by the iconic Clock Tower, also known as the Middle Gate. From Piazza IX Aprile, prepare to be amazed by the stunning panorama – a picture-perfect view of the Ionian Sea, dramatic Mount Etna, the picturesque Cape of Taormina, and the Bay of Giardini Naxos. Continuing along Corso Umberto towards Porta Messina, we'll encounter Palazzo Corvaja and the Church of Santa Caterina, built atop the remains of the ancient Odeon and a Greek temple. A highlight of our Taormina visit is the opportunity to explore the magnificent Greek Theatre (please note that entry tickets are separate). This is one of Sicily's most significant ancient sites, and a truly unforgettable experience. Alternatively, you can choose to spend some free time enjoying a leisurely lunch at one of Taormina's many delightful restaurants. The choice is yours!
