Description
This wine tasting in Messina takes place inside a traditional wine shop only minutes from the cruise port, and it is built around one idea: everything in your glass and on your plate comes from Sicily. You settle in, and your host walks you through three wines, one white, one rosé and one red, explaining where each comes from and what sets it apart.
- Local cheeses and cured meats
- Olives and jams
- Other traditional Sicilian delicacies
- Water, included with the tasting
Once the wines are done, the last part of the session turns to three classic after-dinner drinks: almond wine, chocolate cream and grappa, all Sicilian. Along the way the host shares stories about Sicilian wine and food traditions.
No wine knowledge is needed. The atmosphere is informal, so the session suits both keen wine lovers and anyone simply curious about new flavours. If a bottle or a product wins you over, you can buy it in the shop afterwards. The tasting lasts about an hour and a half, which makes it an easy fit for a stop in port. It is not open to children under 18 or to pregnant women.
