Description
This Mount Etna and Taormina tour from Messina is a private full-day excursion that starts at the pier of Messina port, or at another point agreed in advance. After a quick introduction to the city's main streets, the vehicle joins the motorway towards Catania, with a brief visit to an organic farm near Santa Venerina to sample local delicacies.
Then comes the volcano. You reach the Silvestri craters, at around 2,000 metres, and walk among them for roughly two hours on Europe's largest volcano. You can keep going on your own, or take the funicular up to 2,500 metres, which is not included in the tour.
After Etna, the excursion moves to Taormina. You are led to the pedestrian entrance, and from there Corso Umberto leads to the Greek Theatre, shops, restaurants and ancient monuments, with one or two hours to explore as you wish.
