Description
This private tour of Taormina and Savoca from Messina covers three Sicilian towns in one day, in a private air-conditioned vehicle with Wi-Fi on board. It starts at Messina and heads first for Savoca, a village counted among Italy's loveliest and the setting of scenes from Coppola's The Godfather.
You get about two hours in Savoca for:
- the catacombs
- the town's main church
- Bar Vitelli, known from the film
The road then follows the Ionian coast, with views of the sea, to Taormina. Another two hours there lets you stroll the historic old town, see the Greco-Roman theatre, browse designer shops and taste typical Sicilian products.
On the way back there is a short halt at the Isola Bella viewpoint in Taormina Mare for photos. Back in Messina, the driver shows you the city of the Strait with a brief drive around it. It is a full circuit from Messina in a single day.
