Description
The tour will start from Messina to arrive at Mount Etna at about 2,000 meters above sea level. We will then set off to explore Taormina, and on the way back we will have a short tour of the city of Messina.
Our tour includes arrival at the first town, that of Santa Venerina, coming up from Giarre, in which we stop for a short stop to admire the town's cathedral. During the second stop we stop for a visit and possible tasting in a local farm to try many typical products of our land (honey, cheese, pistachio, oil, olives, almonds). When the tasting is over, we set off to explore Europe's largest volcano, Mount Etna. Arriving at an altitude of 2,000 meters, we stop at Piana Provenzana, where the two inactive craters, the Silvestri craters, immediately stand out to the eye. Stopping for about 1 to 2 hours by arrangement, we take a short walk to the Silvestri craters and along the road where souvenirs can be purchased, with the possibility of also hiking up to 2,500 meters and to 3,000 meters with the typical local cable car together with the guide. (Cable car not included in the tour price)
Next we will move to Taormina, a typical Sicilian town, where you can walk along the Corso Umberto (ancient Roman road) leading to the center of Taormina where you can admire the huge square overlooking the sea. Walking through the streets of Taormina are many quaint and ancient places as well as the very famous Greek Theater of Taormina.
After the Taormina tour we go to see one of the most beautiful viewpoints, called the Balcony, from which you can admire the beautiful beach of Isola Bella.
Finishing the tour of Taormina we will return to Messina passing by one of the most beautiful and special places in the city, the sanctuary of Christ the King, from which it is possible to see the beautiful panorama of the Strait of Messina.
Finishing we go to the cathedral of Messina to view the largest astronomical and astrological clock in the world. There we will take you to a bar for a tasting of Messina granitas and cannoli. (The tasting at the bar is included in the tour price)
