Description
This cooking class in Messina is held in the home of a local host, one of the Cesarine, the country's oldest network of home cooks. You watch a demonstration of regional recipes in a local home, picking up how a three-course Italian meal comes together, from the starter to the pasta and the dessert.
The demonstration leads straight into the meal. You then share the table with your host and try every dish you watched being made, with a selection of local wines and coffee alongside. Over the table the conversation turns to local culture and cuisine, and your host passes on stories behind the food.
- A cooking demo of regional recipes
- A three-course meal: starter, pasta and dessert
- Local wines and coffee
The Cesarine open their own homes to curious travellers and aim to keep authentic local recipes alive, those handed down from generation to generation. It makes a good pick if you would rather spend a few hours at a family table than in a restaurant. The experience lasts about two and a half hours. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
