Description
This Godfather tour from Messina departs from the cruise terminal and reaches Savoca, about 40 minutes away by road. This is the town used in the film, and you see its best-known places, such as Bar Vitelli and the church where Michael Corleone was married. You spend about an hour here.
From there it is roughly 30 minutes to Castelmola, a small village above Taormina with a view of Mount Etna, and another hour of stopping and looking around. Next is Taormina, a town full of shops and restaurants that you explore on foot, for two or three hours.
The way back to Messina includes a panoramic pause at Isola Bella. The last two stops are the Sanctuary of Christ the King, which looks out on the Strait of Messina, then the Duomo, where the astronomical clock is said to be the largest in Europe.
