Description

Built in 1914, it is situated in the area where, till 1783, the imposing Royal Palace of the Norman period was located. Today it is possible to admire the modern building, designed by G. Lo Cascio in art-nouveau style, with wonderful decorations, gates and cantilever roofs made of cast iron. On the top of the main building, there is an allegoric group representing the prow of a ship with, at both sides, the two mythological monsters Scylla and Charybdis, to remind us of the eternal role of Messina as a maritime and commercial town.
