Description

It has a Greek cross plan and it is better known as Carmelo church. Finished in 1931, it was committed to Carmelites that in Messina boast their presence for centuries. It has the 18th century style typical of the pre–earthquake period of 1908. Because of  limited space in the area, the church is very high. The central portal occupies the majority of the façade, and it is closed on the top by an arch-shaped glass window where there is a niche containing a statue of the Virgin.

Of notable interest is the octagonal dome, which gives a fine architectural effect to the whole structure. The interior of the building is decorated by polychrome marble and striking columns made of pink marble overlapped by inlaid capitals. The lacunar is also very beautiful.
