Description
Your incredible island adventure begins in Milazzo! Join us for a full-day excursion to the stunning Aeolian Islands, where you'll explore their mesmerizing natural beauty with an unforgettable tour from the sea. Get ready to discover enchanting coves, dramatic cliffs, and pristine waters, all from the unique perspective of your boat.
Ahoy there, adventurers! Get ready to set sail from Milazzo harbor at noon (but be sure to hop aboard by 11:30!).
As we bid farewell to Milazzo, keep your eyes peeled for a stunning view of the Mamertine promontory and the imposing Milazzo Castle perched high above. Our destination? The enchanting island of Panarea, a true gem of the Aeolian archipelago.
Before we even drop anchor, we'll cruise past the picturesque Cala Juco Bay and the charming Capo Milazzese promontory. This little inlet is a feast for the eyes, with crystal-clear waters lapping against a pebble beach. Look up, and you'll spot the remains of a Bronze Age village (dating back to 1400 BC!) – 22 oval stone huts and a mysterious rectangular structure, perhaps a meeting place for the ancient community. As we approach the harbor, we'll also glide past the lovely Caletta degli Zimmari and Drauto Bay.
Once we reach the port of San Pietro, you'll have roughly 2 hours to explore this captivating island at your own pace.
Next up, we'll leave Panarea behind and sail through the remnants of an ancient volcanic caldera. This area now forms a mini-archipelago of intriguing islets: Dattilo, Panarelli, Lisca Nera, Lisca Bianca, Bottaro, and Basiluzzo, complete with Punta Spinazzola and the fascinating Grotta del Carbone – the inner part of an old crater.
Then it's on to Stromboli, affectionately known as "iddu" (him). After docking at the port of S. Vincenzo-Scari, you'll have around 2 hours and 15-30 minutes to wander and discover. After re-boarding, we'll take a scenic cruise past Strombolicchio and then position ourselves beneath the Sciara del Fuoco. Here, we'll pause to witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of Stromboli's volcanic activity illuminated by the setting sun.
Finally, we'll begin our return journey to Milazzo, arriving around 10:45 PM.
**Stromboli:** Imagine a colossal black giant rising majestically from the deep blue sea. That's Stromboli! For millennia, this has been one of the world's most active volcanoes, putting on a show with its regular "Strombolian bursts" – explosions of lapilli, ash, and magma that occur every 15-20 minutes. It's truly a natural lighthouse for seafarers. The port of San Vincenzo - Scari is fringed by long, black pebble and sand beaches. A road winds its way up through the village to the Church of San Vincenzo and its panoramic square, offering spectacular views of "Strombolicchio" – the "grandfather" of Stromboli, a solidified lava plug from the oldest volcanic cone in the Aeolian Islands, now topped by the island's lighthouse.
