Myth & Sea: Visit with dinner in Scilla and Chianalea

From Reggio Calabria to Scilla, between the legendary fortress and the suburb of Chianalea: a traditional dinner with wine and ice cream just a stone's throw from the sea. Departure 6:00 PM, drop-off 11:00 PM.

Scilla gets its name from Scylla, the sea monster that guarded the Calabrian coast of the Strait together with Charybdis in Homer's Odyssey. Today, that side is a fortress with Castello Ruffo, which separates the beach of Marina Grande from the village of Chianalea. In Chianalea, the houses descend to the water's edge and the alleys narrow between one dock and the next: it's the fishermen's district, especially lively when the boats return. Myth&Sea brings these two dimensions together in a single evening, the myth on the fortress and the sea in the village. Departure is from Reggio di Calabria, Piazza Indipendenza, at 6:00 PM. The transfer takes about half an hour (just over twenty kilometers along the coast). From 6:30 PM, you have free time: a walk by the sea along Marina Grande, then inside Chianalea, as the light falls on the Strait. At 8:30 PM, dinner in Chianalea: a traditional starter, a choice of main course, and a glass of local wine. After dinner, ice cream. The return is scheduled with departure from Scilla at 11:00 PM, with arrival in Reggio Calabria around 11:30 PM.
